Trois Rivieres Post Race Press Release

Another tough weekend for Knighthawk Racing

In what was an interesting weekend at the beginning for Knighthawk Racing and driver Chad Block ended up as a very dissapointing one.

"When we arrived here this morning the car was absolutely horrible to drive on this bumpy street circuit. We were bouncing all over the map. Mike Gramke and I worked hard together to make some large steps forward, and it resulted in Knighthawk's second ever pole in the 675 class, a new class record, and 5th overall on the grid."- Chad had to say Saturday morning after posting the 5th fastest time in the warm-up.

Going into the race Steve Knight and Chad Block made the decision that Steve would start the race in order to get the much needed points for the driver's championship since he was sitting a close third. But on the first turn on the first lap Steve Knight and Johnny Herbert, in Champion Racings Audi R8, had contact and the Knighthawk Lola MG was retired from the race.

"I'm not sure what actually happened because from our angle it was hard to see. It seems as though the Champion Audi got a little out of shape and Steve was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Of course we are all terribly dissapointed but it was a racing accident and noone can change that."

The pole position in friday's qualifying by young Chad Block, who had just celebrated his birthday on thursday by being invited to drive in this race, was the second of the season for the team.

"The pole position was nice, it seemed to garner me some attention and respect from the LMP900 drivers and so on. The car had a little more in it but we didnt have the appropriate smooth running session to obtain the lap we needed to move up another spot. I can only hope that Gestetner my sponsor and Knighthawk Racing will give me the opportunity to go at this again. Mel Hawkins wasn't going to be here this weekend, I was hoping to call him and rub it in that we won and he missed it, but maybe another time." (Block said with a smile)

At this point in time Chad is not certain whether he will be driving at Mosport in two weeks for the canadian race there, but stay tuned for details.
